COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM CLEANS DETROIT!
The WorkForce Mentoring program implements the 'Clean Nation Project' that provides youth and adults with the opportunity to improve the safety and beauty of Detroit. Clean Nation participants use their talent and skills to 'Board Up' and 'Clean Up' neighborhoods to support the
Personal and Property Development Program that assists families with emergency, transitional and long term housing. Many homes are aquired by the organization for refurbishing. The ultimate goal of this activity is to assist these families in achieving home ownership.
The Clean Nation project was initially funded by the Akosha Foundation and was one of the only projects funded in Detroit among national awardees. This program allowed our Community Service Team to clean up 2 miles of neighborhoods in 2009-2010. In 2012 the Team intends to clean up several neighborhood in the E. 7 Mile area and participate in the 'Detroit Neighborhoods Day' hosted by Arise Detroit August 4, 2012. Five teams will organize and manage clean up efforts that result in the education, security and cleaning of over 22 properties.
